Sherwood teen found safe in city Saturday
Sherwood teen Effie "Nikki" Shaha-Walberg who was missing and possibly endangered when she left her residence unexpectedly on the evening of Sunday, June 4, has been found safe.
Sherwood police said the 17-year-old teen was located Saturday morning in Sherwood.
Police thanked the community for its attention and concern in assisting to locate the girl with a spokesman saying the details of her time away from home are being looked into.
Meanwhile, Nikki's mother, Patsy Shaha, expressed graditude to Sherwood police for their efforts in locating her daughter, posting the following on the Sherwood Police Department's Facebook page:
"My husband and I have unspeakable, immeasurable gratitude to the selfless, caring folks whom extended their hearts and concerns for our Nikki. Special thanks to the many incredible officers at Sherwood Police Department.
"I have worked side by side by officers of the law for years in my profession, and I can attest that every single one of the many Sherwood Police with whom I talked -- every one of them was kind. caring. professional. thorough. compassionate.
"My heart is full. In My Alaskan Native tongue, we say "quyana" for thank you."
