Do you know an Amazing Kid?

A Sherwood student who is making a difference is sought for annual honor

GAZETTE FILE PHOTO - Last year's Amazing Kids winner for Sherwood was Becky Mifflin.  The Sherwood Gazette, which is owned by the Pamplin Media Group, and its sister newpapers are seeking submissions for our 2017 Amazing Kids contest. The deadline for submission is Sunday, March 5.

This annual April special section is distributed in Pamplin Media Group newspapers throughout the region and the selected Sherwood winner will be featured in an upcoming Sherwood Gazette.. The Amazing Kids will be honored at a gala event May 7 hosted by Pamplin Media Group.

Now in its fourth year, Amazing Kids has been highlighting the work young people are doing to make a difference in our community. It has featured a high schooler rising above homelessness, a young duck breeder looking to feed the hungry, and a hip-hop artist using music to build community, among many other amazing youths.

If you know of an exceptional young person, please submit a brief description of why your nominee deserves to be recognized, along with contact information for both you and the nominee.

Nominees should be younger than 18 by the application deadline, March 5, and there is no school affiliation requirement (homeschool, charter school, etc., are OK). However, only one nominee will be chosen each year from each geographic area covered by a PMG newspaper.
