Asla wanted to create more opportunities to connect with students, and noticed that many police agencies designate a distinctive vehicle for its school resource officer, according to Capt. Ty Hanlon, a spokesman for the Sherwood Police Department.

At the same time, Asla wanted to garner community support to create a graphically pleasing car with a specific look for the school.

Then PDX Wraps, a local graphics shop, joined in with ideas for images for the vehicle. In the end, the business donated a variety of eye-catching graphics including the SHS Bowman mascot and a Dutch Bros. Coffee logo.

“Through these partnerships with local businesses and the Sherwood School District there has been a significant effort to connect with the youth in the community. These partnerships are helping break down barriers between law enforcement and students,” said Hanlon. “The SRO vehicle is another great tool to open dialogue with students and establish channels of communication.”
