Police announce department awards, senior center flea market and Trashpoolza set


Police honor own at annual ceremony

The Sherwood Police Department honored its own on Feb. 15 during the department’s annual awards ceremony. Sponsored by the Sherwood Police Foundation, the event was held at Bella Via in Old Town with dinner served by Tree’s Restaurant and Catering.

Award recipients included:

• Distinguished Service Medal: Officer Greg Hirsch

Detective Debbie Smith and Officer Colin Drummond

• Lifesaving Medal: Officer Ben Humphrey and Officer Sean Perry; Captain Mark Daniel

• Chief’s Medal: Officer Randy Johnson

• Meritorious Service Award: Officer Joe Twigg, Officer Greg Hirsch, Officer Randy Johnson, Officer Sean Perry, Officer Colin Drummond and Sergeant Jon Shields

• Police Officer of the Year: Officer Joe Twigg

Senior center to hold flea market

The Friends of the Sherwood Senior Center will be hosting the annual Flea Market at the Marjorie Stewart Center, 21907 S.W. Sherwood Boulevard, from 9 a.m. to

3 p.m. Saturday, April 12.

More than 20 vendors will sell items ranging from candles, purses, jewelry, linens, fabric to household goods. There will also be a garage sale with lots of donated items. A cafe will serve hamburgers, hot dogs and soup. Homemade baked goods also will be sold.

Vendor table are still available for $15. Applications are available at the center. Proceeds from the table rentals, garage sale and cafe benefit the Sherwood Senior Center program and trip fund.

Trashpalooza set for April 26 at plaza

The city of Sherwood is celebrating Earth Day with its annual Trashpalooza event set for Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at Cannery Square Plaza.

The event will include litter cleanup, informational activities, art made from recyclable items, and prizes. Click here or call 503-625-4251.
