Infant with medical issues dies at YMCA
The name and age of the child have yet to be released
Sherwood police are ruling out negligence or foul play in the death of an infant who died at the Sherwood Family YMCA on Saturday.
Capt. Ty Hanlon, a spokesman for the Sherwood Police Department, said officers responded along with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews on a report of an infant having medical issues.
Medical assistance was provided at the scene and the child was taken to a local hospital.
Hanlon, who did not have the name of the deceased child, said the child was in the care of the Oregon Department of Human Services at the time.
On Monday, Gene Evans, a spokesman for DHS, said he could confirm statements from Sherwood police but couldn't provide additional information because of state and federal privacy laws.
