Mercedes Massey, Brooklyn Scheer, Brooklyn Mercier and Haidon Allen are the Lions' all-Northwest Oregon Conference softball and baseball headliners.
Massey, a senior catcher, Scheer, a senior utility, and Mercier, a junior infielder, are first-teamers as they helped St. Helens (3-21 overall, 3-14 Northwest Oregon) beat Sandy, Milwaukie and Parkrose, average three runs against eight per game and play to eight games decided by three runs or fewer in an eighth-place conference finish.
Kaily Smith is a second-team sophomore outfielder, Ceiarra Van Dolah is a honorable mention senior utility and Taylor Dow is an honorable mention sophomore infielder.
Allen is a second-team senior outfielder as he batted .339 and led the team with 21 hits -- 20 singles and a double -- drove in six runs and scored nine times as the Lions (4-19, 3-14) beat Class 6A North Salem and swept Parkrose in three games as they averaged three runs against six per game and came up seventh in the conference.
Garrett Sukau (a senior catcher with a .284 average, 12 singles, seven doubles, seven RBIs and seven runs), Jake Hawkins (a senior infielder, .171, five singles, a double and eight scores) Christian Ross (a senior outfielder, .243, 15 singles, three doubles, seven RBIs and five runs), David Parks (a junior first baseman, .269, 15 singles, two doubles, a home run, six RBIs and six runs) and Owen Wolfe (a junior pitcher who threw to a 2-7 record against 56 hits, 17 of 28 runs earned, 16 walks and 40 strikeouts for a 2.445 earned run average in 11 appearances and 48 2/3 innings) all received honorable mention.
