Baseball: Scappoose wraps up suspended game with Yamhill-Carlton
The Scappoose Indians finished off a suspended game on Friday, getting a double in the top of the eighth inning to take their third contest in a row and move to 3-1 in Cowapa League play.
Scappoose led 3-1 after the first inning, and 4-2 in the top of the sixth before a rally from Yamhill-Carlton pushed for a tie in the bottom of the seventh. The game was suspended due to darkness, but the Indians picked up exactly where they left off, nabbing a double from Wyatt Patton to drive home Jake Ford to take a 7-6 lead. Senior Will Sprute struck out two batters in the bottom of the eighth and the defense picked off a third, sealing a win for the Indians.
Scappoose will kick off a two-game series with Tillamook on Tuesday, April 22, visiting the Cheesemakers before returning home on Wednesday, April 23 for the home leg at 5 p.m. Tillamook has lost their last two, and have split their four games in Cowapa League play.
