Eric Aldridge is once again the team's top scorer
The St. Helens boys' golf team had a strong showing on a difficult course last Wednesday, taking third in the Northwest Oregon Conference meet at Langden Farms in Aurora. Sherwood took the top three individual places, Joe Reed with a 68, Gabe Reed shooting a 72 and Geegan Brasch with a 72.
The Lions finished with a team score of 340, just 16 points behind host Wilsonville for second place. Eric Aldridge led St. Helens with a low score of 80, followed by Jacob Roxey at 84, Cody Teyema at 87, Michael Hewlett at 89 and Jordan Roark at 93.
The first hole and the last few holes were what made the difference for St. Helens, according to coach Dave Lawrence, and it was a few good scores on those difficult holes that pushed Aldridge to seventh place overall.
Lawrence also said that both Teyema and Hewlett had their good moments, but a few difficult holes set them back considerably. Roark had the same issue, Lawrence said, playing six good holes on each half of the course, but needing to finish out his rounds strong.
