Tribe cross country makes top 10

by: JOHN WILLIAM HOWARD - Both Scappoose High School cross country teams made the top ten in the latest poll.

Both the girls and boys cross country teams from Scappoose have made the top ten in the initial Class 4A cross country poll, released late this morning.

The girls, led by state title-hopeful Charlie Davidson, jumped to sixth after strong showings at the Wilsonville Night meet on Augt. 29 and the Ultamook meet in Tillamook on Sept. 7. They trail Sisters and Lasalle by a wide margin, with Molalla taking first place by nearly 20 points.

The boys team made tenth in the poll, edging out Brookings-Harbor and trailing Tillamook by six points. Class 4A championship favorite Siuslaw reigns in first, followed by LaSalle and Marshfield.

Both teams will next see action at the Nike Meet, held at Portland Meadows on Sept. 28.
