St. Helens man arrested on 65 charges of rape, sexual abuse, sodomy

WilhiteA St. Helens man was arrested Monday night on multiple charges of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse.

St. Helens police booked Zachary Ryan Wilhite, 23, into the Columbia County Jail on 65 total charges, including 18 charges of third-degree rape, 18 charges of third-degree sodomy and 29 charges of third-degree sexual abuse, according to the jail's website.

St. Helens Police Chief Terry Moss said Wilhite's crimes all had to do with the age of his victim, a girl under the age of 15.

“It came in as complaint through her family,” he said. “Officers investigated last night [Monday Dec. 9], he was arrested and now sits in the Columbia County Jail.”

Moss said Wilhite will likely be arraigned within the next couple of days.

“They were neighbors,” Moss added. “This was not, or did not, pose a risk to the community at large. He certainly was a risk to the victim.”
