Stay out of Ashcreek, for now
A broken sewage pipe caused a sewage leak into Ashcreek in Southwest Portland on Monday, and residents are advised to avoid contact with the creek water through Wednesday afternoon.
A city employee discovered the leaking pipe Monday morning near Southwest Knightsbridge and Orchid drives, and city maintenance workers managed to fix the pipe by the end of the day.
However, bacteria is known to have leaked into the creek, so the city Bureau of Environmental Services advises the public to avoid contact with Ashcreek for about 48 hours.
