Public's help sought in locating missing 84-Year-Old with Alzheimer's

SOUTHWEST HILLS — The Portland Police Bureau is asking for the public's help in locating 84-year-old Ted Reich, who has Alzheimer's disease and is believed to be driving his wife's Mercedes SUV.

After returning home from walking their dog, Reich's wife discovered that he was missing, along with her car. Reich reportedly has a prior history of wandering, but has not previously left in a vehicle. Family members advised that Reich may try to get to the Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) in Downtown Portland, the Portland Yacht Club on Northeast Marine Drive, or the Bridgeport Pub, on Northwest Marshall Street.

Reich is described as a 6-foot-1white male weighing 165 pounds, with grey hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a red, zippered Patagonia sweater over a blue, short-sleeved, plaid shirt with khaki pants and tan-colored, Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes.

Reich is believed to be driving a silver 2001 Mercedes ML320 with Oregon vanity plates, "GER."

Anyone who knows of Reich's whereabouts is asked to immediately call 911. Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to contact Detective Mike Weinstein, Missing Persons Unit, at 503-823-0446.
