About 500 gallons of sewage overflowed from a manhole at about 6 p.m. Monday, July 8, near Southwest 70th Avenue and Railroad Street north of Multnomah Boulevard.
Portland city maintenance crews cleaned up the spill. The sewage did not reach a waterway.
The sewage overflowed as Portlands Bureau of Environmental Services was refilling the Fanno pressure sewer. Maintenance crews stopped the process and closed a pressure relief valve to stop the sewage release.
