Broadway Rose Theatre Company continues its 2017 season with "Beehive," a concert-style tribute to the songstresses of the '60s and '70s at the New Stage.
Preview performance is Thursday, April 13, with opening night Friday, April 14, and performances continuing through May 14. Evening performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m.; matinees are at 2 p.m. on Sundays and on the following Saturdays, April 22 and 29, and May 6.
The New Stage is located at 12850 S.W. Grant Ave. in Tigard. Tickets are priced from $30 to $46 for adults (depending on date), with discounts available for groups and youth. A fun, frothy flashback to the fabulous females of 1960s' pop music, "Beehive" features non-stop hits from early-decade bubble gum classics to the explosive late 1960s' soul sound.
Paying tribute to performers such as Lesley Gore, The Shirelles, Brenda Lee, Tina Turner, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin, this irresistible revue will fly the audience back in time to experience firsthand the music that thrilled a generation. Songs include "One Fine Day," "It's My Party," "You Don't Own Me," "A Natural Woman," "Piece of My Heart" and "Proud Mary."
Broadway Rose's production is directed by Sharon Maroney, with music direction from Jeffery Childs and choreography by Dan Murphy. The creative team includes Robert Vaughn (set designer), Brynne Oster-Bainnson (costume designer), Carl Faber (lighting designer), Brian Moen (sound designer), Jeff Duncan (prop designer), Jane Holmes (wig designer) and Jessica Junor (production stage manager).
The cast includes Alyssa Birrer, Kristen Calvin, Antonía Darlene, Kayla Dixon, Andrea Enright and Malia Tippets.
