K9 tracks down Sherwood DUII suspect
Washington County Sheriffs deputies used a Tigard police K9 to track down and arrest a suspected drunk driver who fled a crash near Sherwood late Saturday.
Sherwood resident Daniel Horton, 54, was charged with DUII and reckless driving and lodged in the Washington County Jail.
According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, at 10:55 p.m. on Dec. 9, deputies responded to a report of a driver who crashed into a tree on Southwest Tonquin Road near Southwest Morgan Road. A concerned citizen who stopped to check on the driver called 911 reported that the driver was intoxicated. The
driver, later identified as Horton, asked the caller not to call the police and fled scene.
When deputies arrived, they located a 2009 Acura crashed into a tree. The citizen who stopped to render assistance told deputies which way Horton ran.
With the assistance of a Tigard officer and his K9, deputies successfully tracked down Horton. During the course of the investigation, deputies determined Horton was driving impaired and arrested him.
