AMR's Clackamas County team wins national competition
Clackamas County paramedic Ken Schey and EMT Jason Mitro took top honors this month at AMR's Fifth Annual National Clinical Cup Competition.
On Aug. 17 in Denver, teams from across the U.S. competed in a scenario-based competition testing their patient safety and clinical care skills and our local team took the Best of AMR title.
"We are delighted that Ken and Jason are coming home with top honors," said Randy Lauer, general manager of AMR Oregon. "Our professionals work hard to ensure our patients receive the highest level of care in the safest possible environment, and this is the ultimate recognition."
AMR teams from Arizona, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Oregon, each winners of their respective regional competitions, were judged on their proficiency in EMS safety, clinical knowledge, patient care, and skills and abilities including professional operation of emergency vehicles, gurney use and lifting techniques.
AMR operations from around the country hosted preliminary competitions throughout the year to choose the finalists for the national event. The Schey-Mitro team won the AMR NW Regional Clinical Cup Competition in May, beating eight teams from Oregon, Washington and Montana for the spot in the finals.
