Suspected serial robber arrested

Demarcus Yordell Vance, 24, is charged with five counts of Robbery II, attempting to elude on foot and with a vehicle, reckless driving, interfering with a police officer, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

According to police, officers were able to apprehend Vance after an officer, responding to a robbery at at a Plaid Pantry at 1715 N.E. 15h Ave., observed a suspicious person getting into a stolen vehicle. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, which fled. A pursuit began but was stopped due to the dangerous driving of the suspect.

After that, officers who had gotten ahead of the vehicle in the direction they suspected it was heading used spike strips to flatten its tires. The suspect, later identified as Vance, abandoned the vehicle in the area of Northeast 96th Avenue and Northeast. Sandy Boulevard. Officer were then able to establish a perimeter to contain Vance and used a K-9 to capture him.

Officers recovered money taken in the robbery.

According to police Vance, is accused of robbing the following five Plaid Pantry locations:

• 2010 North Killingsworth Street at 2:52 a.m. Monday.

• 5146 Northeast Holgate Street at 9:36 a.m. Monday.

• 7144 Northeast Killingsworth Street at 10:50 a.m. Monday.

• 6510 North Greeley Avenue at 5:48 p.m. Monday.

• 1715 Northeast 16th Avenue at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.
