Pedestrian killed by MAX train in east Portland
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a MAX train in east Portland on Thursday morning.
The name of the victim, described as an adult male, has not been released.
According to police, at 10:43 a.m. on Aug. 7, East Precinct and Transit Police officers responded to the report of a pedestrian struck by a MAX train at 122nd Avenue and East Burnside.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the victim suffering from traumatic injuries. Medical personnel were unable to save the man and he died at the scene.
The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team responded to conduct an investigation.
Both eastbound and westbound MAX lines were stopped, as well as traffic on Burnside both directions, as the investigation began. Southeast 122nd Avenue, crossing Burnside is down to one lane in each direction.
