Gang member arrested for April shooting
Police have arrested a suspect in an April shooting.
Alejandro Ray Vance Jr., 20, is charged with Attempted Murder, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Reckless Endangerment, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Discharging a Firearm in the City, and Pointing a Firearm at Another.
Vance, a documented gang member, is accused of firing multiple gunshots in the area of North Killingsworth Street and Minnesota Avenue. No one was injured, although two vehicle werestruck by bullets.
According to police, officers assigned to the Portland Police Bureau's Gang Enforcement Team located and arrested Vance on Saturday, July 26. The investigation started at 5:36 p.m. on April 28 when North Precinct officers responded to multiple reports of gunshots heard in the area of North Killingsworth Street and Minnesota Avenue.
Officers arrived in the area and located evidence of gunfire just south of Killingsworth, including two vehicle struck by bullets.
Officers canvassing the area attempted to contact Vance, who ran from police and discarded a handgun, which was located and seized by officers. Vance was located and arrested shortly after and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Over the past few months, GET detectives learned additional information that led to Vance Jr. being charged in connection with the shooting.
