Paul William KrekelerPortland homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 19-year-old man who died Tuesday night after collapsing in front of a house near Southeast 57th Avenue and Harold Street.

Police said the victim was Paul William Krekeler. He died from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was Portland's 16th homicide this year.

Police said Krekeler apparently was shot and then ran north on 57th Avenue, falling onto the lawn of the house near Harold Street.

Police said Krekeler was shot at about 10:56 p.m. July 22. Witnesses told police that a white sport utility vehicle or truck was seen heading south on 57th Avenue after the gunshots. Police have not confirmed that the vehicle was connected to the shooting.

Detectives have not discovered a motive for the shooting.

The Portland Police Bureau is working with Crime Stoppers to provide a $1,000 reward for information in the case that leads to an arrest. All tips are confidential and anonymous.
