County jail inmate strangles himself in cell
A Clackamas County Jail inmate committed suicide in his cell on Friday, July 4, detectives and the Medical Examiner's Office reported.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office identified the inmate as 28-year-old Brandon Anthony Barker, who was incarcerated on charges of assault, strangulation, interference with making a report and menacing.
This was the 16th time Barker had been a Clackamas County Jail inmate since 2007. He received a 40-month sentence for second-degree kidnapping, and his other charges have included thefts, criminal mischief, parole violations, assaults and violation of restraining order.
CCSO Sgt. Nathan Thompson said when deputies found Barker with a noose made of a bed sheet around his neck, they attempted to revive him but were not successful.
