Argument with driver leads to shooting

A 30-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg Tuesday night after he got into an argument with a passing driver in the Montavilla neighborhood.

Portland police said the man was treated at a local hospital for what officers described as a non-life-threatening injury. The man’s name and medical condition were not released.

Police said the incident began at about 9:36 p.m. July 1, when East Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 700 block of Northeast 91st Avenue. Officers and medical personnel found the man with a single gunshot to his leg.

The victim told police that he was walking along the street when he got into an argument with a driver of a white or silver Acura Integra. The car stopped and the driver climbed out, firing one shot at the man’s leg.

The car and driver have not been found.
