A bicyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a MAX train in Hillsboro on Thursday evening.
The name and condition of the 58-year-old male bicyclist was not immediately released.
MAX service was temporarily disrupted by the accident but resumed late Thursday.
According to Hillsboro police, at 8:35 p.m. on June 26, officers responded to a collision between a man on a bicycle and a TriMet train on Southeast 10th Avenue at Washington Street. The train was traveling westbound on the tracks on Washington crossing 10th. The bicyclist was riding on the sidewalk when he ran into the side of the train, causing him to fall onto the roadway.
Police say the man was not run over by the train but did suffer head injuries that appear serious during this incident. He was transported to Emanuel Hospital via ambulance. No one on the train was injured and the train immediately stopped.
The roadway and MAX line was closed during the investigation. They reopened around 11:20 p.m.
