Korean War Veterans hold Memorial Day ceremony in Wilsonville
Korean War Memorial hosts annual commemoration of America's fallen
The Oregon Trail Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association held its annual Memorial Day ceremony Monday morning in Wilsonville at the Korean War Memorial in Town Center Park.
This year's event drew over 100 people to the memorial, which was completed in 2000 to honor the Korean people and veterans of the 1950-53 war, including the 287 Oregonians who died in the conflict.
Master of Ceremonies was Oregon Trail Chapter President Chuck Lusardi, while Wilsonville City Councilor Julie Fitzgerald was among the speakers.
This year also saw members of the Aurora Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol serve as color guard for the ceremony, while other members performed "Taps" to honor the fallen. The Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary branch of the U.S. Air Force. Its members are typically aged 12-18. They meet regularly with a focus on leadership.
