Man arrested after overnight standoff
Police arrested a man on domestic violence charges early Sunday after lengthy standoff
Gino Brown, 29, was charged with strangulation, assault in the fourth degree, coercion, and two counts of menacing.
Brown will be arraigned on Tuesday in Multnomah County Court.
According to police, at 9:04 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, East Precinct officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Southeast 155th Avenue on the report of a man inside a home threatening others with a firearm during a domestic violence incident.
Officers arrived in the area and learned that all occupants of the home were safely outside and that the armed man was alone inside the residence.
Police say that numerous attempts to call into the home and the use of a loud speaker to gain the man's attention did not yield a response. Residents on either side of the incident address have safely been evacuated.
The Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were called to the scene to handle the situation.
Southeast Stark Street was blocked in both directions, from 153rd to 157th avenues overnight.
