Shooting suspect charged and jailed


by: MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Paul Alan RoppPolice have booked the suspect accused of wounding an officer and killing his K-9 partner in Southwest Portland

Paul Alan Ropp, 20, is being held on charges of Attempted Aggravagted Murder, Assault II, Assault of a Law Enforcement Animal, Aggravated Animal Abuse, Possession of an Explosive Device, Unlawful Use of Weapon, Burglary I and Attempt to Elude.

Ropp had been hospitalized since the early Wednesday morning injuries sustained during the incident.

Officer Jeff Dorn has been released from the hospital and is recovering from being shot in both legs. His K-9 partner Mick was found dead at the scene.

Two other suspects, Steven Alan Young and Riley Jemeall, are jailed on numerous charges related to the incident, which is still under investigation. They were arrested at the scene after Ropp crashed their Chevy Suburban while fleeing police. Ropp was captured a few miles away later that morning.
