The Gang Enforcement Team is investigating two recent shootings that left a 17-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man hospitalized.
The names of the victims were not immediately released.
East Precinct officers responded to the first shooting at 6:512 p.m. on Friday, March 21, in the area of Southeast 119th Avenue and Stark Street.
When officers and medical personnel arrived, they located the 19-year-old male victim. He was transported to a Portland hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
Officers learned that the victim was standing along with the three people on the corner of Southeast 119th Avenue and Oak Street when a vehicle drove up to them and stopped. A passenger got out of the vehicle and fired multiple rounds at the group, then got back into the car, which fled the area.
No suspect information was immediately available. The three people with the victim were detained. The Gang Enforcement Team responded to conduct the investigation.
East Precinct officers responded to the second shooting at 2:57 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, in the area of Southeast 99th and Oak Street.
When they arrived, officers and medical located a 32-year-old male victim lying injured in the street. The victim was not cooperative with police or medical personnel, but eventually was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Preliminary information indicates that this was a drive-by shooting.
The Gang Enforcement Team responded to take over this investigation, too.
