Multnomah County sheriff and county auditor face no rivals in re-election bids
Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton and Multnomah County Auditor Steve March have an easy path to re-election at the May 20 primary, as neither attracted any competition by filing deadline on Tuesday, March 11.
Staton became interim sheriff in 2009 when then-Sheriff Bob Skipper left his post mid-term. Staton was elected to a full term in 2010. He started with the department in 1989 as a deputy sheriff.
March became county auditor in June 2009, filling in after LaVonne Griffin-Valade departed mid-term to become Portland city auditor. March was elected to a full term in 2010. He previously served three terms in the Oregon House of Representatives, and earlier served as an auditor and staffer for Multnomah County.
