The Morrison Bridge in downtown Portland was closed for Sunday for an assessment.
The bridge was closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Feb. 23 so that Multnomah County inspectors could examine the condition of the lift span deck panels that were installed in 2011 and 2012. The panels have shown some premature wear, and the county is currently suing the contractors over the workmanship.
The bridges ramps to Interstate 5 and Interstate 84 were closed. Drivers could access I-5 south from Highway 99E, and I-5 north from Northeast Broadway and Williams Avenue. They could use Northeast Grand Avenue and Everett Street to get to I-84 east.
TriMets Belmont bus line 15 used the Burnside Bridge during the closure.
The Morrison Bridge will have two more closures in the coming month for the ongoing inspections March 23 and April 12.
Meanwhile, the county is intermittently closing one outside lane of the bridge for ongoing removal of decking material in the lift span area.
