Felon arrested with guns, ammunition body armor
Police have seized 10 firearms, ammunition and body armor from a convicted felon.
Leroy Sylvester Long, 40, is charged with 10 counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, 10 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and one count of Felon in Possession of Body Armor.
Once the investigation is complete, it will be shared with the U.S. Attorney's Office for possible Federal prosecution.
According to police, at 4:54 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, North Precinct officers were dispatched to Fox Run Mobile Home Park, located at 9000 Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, on the report of a subject menacing his brother with a gun.
The officers arrived and arrested the suspect. When they learned that Long was a convicted felon, the officers notified the Gun Task Force to assist in the investigation.
Task force investigators obtained a search warrant for suspect's residence and seized a large gun safe inside the premises. Inside the safe, investigators recovered 10 firearms, ammunition and body armor.
The Portland Police Bureau's Gun Task Force is continuing to actively investigate gun crimes in the City of Portland.
