Steel Bridge closures to disrupt weekend, Monday morning traffic

The Steel Bridge will completely close for maintenance this weekend and next. The closures will continue into the mornings of Feb. 17 and 24.

TriMet says the closures will disrupt bus and MAX traffic across the bridge both weekends and impact the Monday morning commutes. Shuttle buses will transport riders from the Rose Quarter Transit Center to the Old Town/Chinatown Station as close to MAX scheduled times as possible.

The bridge is owned by the Union Pacific Railroad. The closure will disrupt roughly 300 MAX trips and 260 bus trips in total.

Five bus lines detoured

Buses on lines 4, 8, 35, 44 will detour to the Burnside Bridge and bus line 77 will detour to the Broadway Bridge during the following times:

• Saturday, Feb. 15 – Sunday, Feb. 16: 11:00 p.m. through 8:30 a.m.

• Sunday, Feb. 16 – Monday, Feb. 17: 11:00 p.m. through 8:30 a.m.

• Saturday, Feb. 22 – Sunday, Feb. 23: 11:00 p.m. through 8:30 a.m.

• Sunday, Feb. 23 – Monday, Feb. 24: 11:00 p.m. through 8:30 a.m.

MAX service disrupted

MAX trains will be allowed to run across the bridge a little longer than other vehicles and will start back across the bridge slightly earlier. Here are the times MAX service will be disrupted:

• Sunday, Feb. 16: 12:00 a.m. through 8:00 a.m.

• Monday, Feb. 17: 12:00 a.m. through 8:00 a.m.

• Sunday, Feb. 23: 12:00 a.m. through 8:00 a.m.

• Monday, Feb. 24: 12:00 a.m. through 8:00 a.m.

Blue/Red line shuttles

Shuttle buses will transport riders from the Rose Quarter Transit Center to the Old Town/Chinatown Station as close to MAX scheduled times as possible.

MAX Green/Yellow line shuttles

Shuttle buses will take riders from the Interstate/Rose Quarter Station to Union Station as close to MAX scheduled times as possible. We will have three trains circling the Transit Mall on 5th and 6th avenues.
