TriMet reports some fixes, more delays

TriMet maintenance crews have worked around the clock to keep buses and MAX trains on schedule during the snow storm. They also had to deal with a problem that happened shortly before the snow started falling — a faulty fiber optic line that prevent ticket machines on MAX station to stop accepting credit and debits cards west of the Willamette River.

TriMet announced the machines were fixed shortly after noon on Friday, a little while after declaring that the elevators at the Hollywood Transit Center and the MAX stations at Northeast 60th Avenue and Northeast 82nd Avenue are working once again.

And TriMet has announced that the Union Pacific Railroad has postponed major maintenance work on the Steel Bridge that would have disrupted MAX and bus service on Sunday and Monday mornings. Although the bridge is a critical crossing into and out of downtown for MAX trains, it is owned by the railroad company.

TriMet also says crews have solved the problems with the frozen switches that disputed MAX service during the height of the storm Thursday. Many buses are on snow routes, however, so riders should be prepared for delays and check for updates at trimet.org/alerts before going out.

LIFT riders are restricted to providing life-sustaining trips only, such as visits for dialysis, radiation and chemotherapy.
