Commuters may find the going slower over the Morrison Bridge when one eastbound lane will close for three weeks begining Sunday.
Officials are closing the lane to inspect the lift span deck that has shown some premature wear. It was just resurfaced in 2011, but has not held up well. The city is suing the contractors over the workmanship.
Then a westbound lane will be closed for three weeks for a similar inspection.
During this period, new panels will replace degraded panels.
The onramp at SW Naito Avenue and the offramp at SE Water Avenue will stay open during this time, and all freeway ramps will also remain open.
After these inspection officials will have a better understanding of the detailed repairs needed.
