Two hospitalized after their car crashes in the Molalla River

by: CLACKAMAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Emergency services crews pull one of the two occupants of a vehicle that crashed into the Mollala river early Sunday morning. The occupants of a vehicle that crashed into the Molalla River early Sunday morning are still receiving medical care at OHSU.

Members of the Molalla Fire District and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office were the first to arrive at the scene, about seven miles east of the intersection of Molalla Forest Road and Dickey Prairie Road, and found that three good samaritans had begun pulling the occupants of a 1996 Dodge Stratus from the wreckage. Douglas Parkins, 25; Michael Holliday, 31; and Ricky Hendrickson, 34; all helped pull the driver, Giovanni Demartino, 22, of Clackamas from the car. When emergency services personnel arrived, they found Demartino and the passenger, Danie Fournier, 23, on top of the vehicle. She had been able to swim to shore on the other side of the river where two passersby waded across the river to give her aid until emergency crews arrived.
