Shots ring out in Christmas present dispute

A dispute over some allegedly stolen Christmas presents resulted in the shooting of a Portland-area man.

After responding to a call from the Portland Adventist Medical Center, which reported a walk-in patient with a gunshot wound, East Precinct officers found out enough information to arrest the suspect in the shooting.

by: PORTLAND POLICE BUREAU - Martin Hartley is the suspect in the shooting of Keytar Donesouda over alleged stolen Christmas presents.Since the victim, 31-year-old Keytar Plaza Donesouda, was transported to another hospital, officers spoke with his girlfriend, 33-year-old Xaykham Chanthavong. She reported that on Dec. 21, at 11:51 p.m., a dispute over allegedly stolen Christmas presents resulted in 44-year-old Martin Hartley shooting the victim outside a residence in the 3300 block of NE 122nd Ave.

Officers contacted Hartley, who was arrested without incident and charged with Attempted Murder, Assault in the First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

After officers determined that the truck Chanthavong used to drive the victim to the hospital was stolen, she was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

Chanthavong and Hartley will be arraigned on Monday. Donesouda remains in a Portland hospital recovering from his injuries.
