TriMet adjusts service on eight bus lines on Sunday

Eight TriMet bus lines will be adjusted to help relieve overcrowding and better match their schedules to traffic conditions for more on-time arrivals on Sunday, Dec. 1.

According to TriMet, small adjustments can make it easier on riders through improved service frequency and can increase ridership.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to improve service for riders where and whenever possible, “said TriMet General Manager Neil McFarlane. “These minor adjustments will help with schedule reliability while we continue to focus on adding more service in the future.”

The affected lines are:

• Line 9-Powell Blvd., where weekday service will have minor schedule adjustments to better match schedules to traffic conditions. A trip has also been added to help relieve overcrowding.

• Line 10-Harold St., which will have minor schedule adjustments in both directions to better match schedules to traffic conditions.

• Line 14-Hawthorne Blvd., where weekday service will have minor schedule adjustments in both directions to better match schedules to traffic conditions.

• Line 33-McLoughlin Blvd., which will have increased evening frequency on weekdays to help relieve overcrowding.

• Line 35-Macadam/Greeley, where the weekday a.m. southbound trips that currently end at the 200 block of SW Harrison will extend to South Waterfront and the Portland Aerial Tram to help relieve overcrowding.

• 61-Marquam Hill/Beaverton, which will have an additional morning trip on weekdays to Marquam Hill to help relieve overcrowding.

• Line 76, which will have increased evening frequency on weekdays to help relieve overcrowding.

• Line 78-Beaverton/Lake Oswego, which will have increased evening frequency on weekdays to help relieve overcrowding.

The changes come after $2.1 million in adjustments made on Sept. 1 to schedules, routes and/or stops on 11 bus lines, including the addition of a bus line between Sherwood and Tigard.

The next service change that will take effect in the Spring on Sunday, March 2, 2014. At that time, TriMet will be restoring frequent service on bus lines. TriMet’s Frequent Service bus lines will run about every 15 minutes during the day on weekdays.
