Police step up DUII enforcement during Thanksgiving holiday
The West Linn Police Department plans to participate in a statewide high-visibility DUII enforcement program through this weekend.
Through Monday, the department will use regular and overtime officers specifically tasked with identifying and arresting impaired drivers in hopes of reducing the number of drug- and alcohol-related traffic incidents in the city, according to police.
The special enforcement effort was set to begin last weekend.
The week around Thanksgiving has become one of the most dangerous holiday periods for driving, according to police. The WLPD encouraged citizens to drink responsibly and plan ahead for a safe way to return home.
The enforcement effort is funded by overtime funds through the Oregon Department of Transportation. For more information, contact West Linn Police Sgt. B. Wade Corbin at 503-655-6214.
