IN PHOTOS: Timbers play on, Sounders exit

The Portland Timbers' first home MLS playoff game was a massive success Thursday night at Jeld-Wen Field.

Portland scored the first three goals to lead 3-0 after 47 minutes — giving the Timbers a 5-1 margin in the two-game, aggregate series that carried over from last week's opening match at Seattle.

The Sounders tallied goals in the 74th and 78th minutes but still wound up exiting the postseason with a 5-3 aggregate defeat.

Portland moves on to the MLS final four. The Timbers will play two games against Real Salt Lake for the Western Conference title. Game one is 6 p.m. PT Sunday at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah (ESPN). Game two will be at Jeld-Wen on Nov. 24, also at 6 p.m. (ESPN).
