Police investigate gang shooting in Lents

A man was hospitalized in a suspected gang shooting in the Lents neighborhood early Sunday.

The name and condition of the victim was not immediately released. No suspect information was available.

According to police, at 1:22 a.m. on Oct. 27, East Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting at Southeast 101st Avenue and Pardee Street.

Officers arrived in the area and located evidence of gunfire and spoke to several witnesses. As they were beginning to investigate the report, the officers learned that a gunshot victim had been dropped off at a nearby hospital. The victim was then transported from that hospital to a trauma hospital by ambulance.

Police say the victim is a male in his late teens or early 20s and has serious, traumatic injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening at this time.

Based on preliminary information, police believe that the shooting is gang-related. The Gang Enforcement Team responded and to continue the investigate.
