Second sister dies at hospital

{img:22996}The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office confirms the second sister involved with Sunday night’s crash in Forest Grove has passed away.

Abigail Robinson was rushed to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center Sunday night after she and her sister, Anna Dieter-Eckerdt, 6, were hit by a vehicle as they were playing in a pile of leaves outside their home near the intersection of 17th and Main St. in Forest Grove.

Police said Eckerdt died on scene. A spokesperson with the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office said Robinson passed away around 11:30 p.m. Her body remains at Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. Officials said some of her organs are being processed for donation.

On Monday night, hundreds of community members gathered at the Forest Grove Sonrise Church to support the family.

Police said they have seized the vehicle that reportedly hit the two girls. Detectives have not released the driver’s name and no arrests have been made. Capt. Mike Herb, a spokesperson for the Forest Grove Police Department, said late Monday investigators are no longer calling the incident a “hit and run.” Herb would not elaborate on why.

The Washington County District Attorney’s Office is assisting with the investigation in case any criminal charges are filed, sources confirmed.
