Their longtime show on KEX abruptly left the airwaves in late July.Mark Mason and Dave Anderson, radio comedians and talk show hosts, return to the broadcast booth Monday, Oct. 21, at KPAM AM 860.

The pair’s popular Mark & Dave show on KEX, which had been broadcast for several years, was abruptly ended in late July. For the past 90 days, the two have written a weekly column for the Portland Tribune. Beginning at 3 p.m. Monday, their show returns to radio on a station owned by Pamplin Communications, the same company that publishes the Tribune.

“After being off the air for 90 days, we’re thrilled to be back on the radio at AM 860 KPAM,” says Mason. “I just hope we can remember how it’s done.”

“After we left our last station, I really didn’t want to work with Mark again,” says Anderson. “But Mark begged me and I knew he needed full-time employment, so here I am. Fortunately, I’m working with some great people at KPAM, which makes up for having to deal with Mason.”

Mason has been on the radio in Portland for 18 years. Prior to Portland, he had radio shows in San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. Mason is also the public address announcer for the Portland Trailblazers at the Moda Center. Since his start, he has announced every preseason and regular season game and reached 700 regular season games on March 27.

Anderson is a nationally known comedian who is also co-host of KATU’s “AM Northwest.” He has appeared on television shows such as “Star Search,” Showtime’s “Comedy Club Network,” and “An Evening at the Improv.”

“We’re excited to bring this dynamic team to the KPAM family,” said Andrea Marek, Pamplin Communications president and chief executive officer. “With all the extreme partisan bickering taking place on the radio and in this country, KPAM is happy to deliver local mainstream conversation to our listeners.”

The Pamplin Media Group is the only locally owned and operated radio group in Portland and is home to AM 860 KPAM and Sunny 1550. KPAM’s Live and Local lineup consists of First Edition w/Tim Hohl & Terry Travis, The Bob Miller Show, The Terry Boyd Show, The Mark & Dave Show and is the radio home of the Portland Winterhawks.

The Pamplin Media Group also owns the Portland Tribune and 24 community newspapers. The Pamplin Media Group is the largest media organization in Oregon reaching more than 1 million readers and listeners every week.
