Sewer project open house Thursday

Portland project will affect Lake Oswego

The city of Portland will host an open house today for residents interested in learning about the Southwest Terwilliger Boulevard Sewer Project, which is set to begin in January.

Southwest Terwilliger Boulevard will be closed to all traffic from the Iron Mountain trailhead to Highway 43 while the project takes place.

There will also be lane closures on Highway 43 at times during construction.

The project involves constructing 6,800 feet of gravity sewer line from Southwest Powers Court to Highway 43. The new sewer line will connect to the larger Tryon interceptor sewer, which carries waste to the Tryon Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Lake Oswego.

Currently, a sewage pump station funnels waste through the Dunthorpe-Riverdale area to the treatment facility. The pump station will cease operations after the new gravity sewer is complete.

The open house is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. today with a presentation starting at 6 p.m. It will take place at Lewis & Clark College, 0615 SW Palatine Hill Road, in the Albany 220 room.
