Man held in Waterfront Park shooting
Portland police arrested a 21-year-old man Tuesday afternoon in connection with the Aug. 24 shooting at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
Jajaun Latrell Yoakum was taken into custody at about 3:15 p.m. Sept. 10 as he walked along North Interstate Avenue near Emerson Street. He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail and faces charges of attempted murder (three counts), first-degree assault (two counts), second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon (three counts) and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Police say Yoakum was wanted in connection with the shooting at about 11 p.m. near the Portland Spirit dock at Waterfront Park where a large group of people waited in line to attend a private party. The shooting injured 26-year-old Leonard Brightmon, 22-year-old Xavier Bolden and 22-year-old Ronnie Smith. They are all expected to survive their injuries.
