Truck accident topples NW power lines, poles

by: COURTESY OF PORTLAND POLICE BUREAU - A truck accident on Northwest 14th Avenue near Marshall Street damaged several power lines and brought down a transformer and utility poles.Several utility lines were damaged Tuesday morning in Northwest Portland when a truck accidentally pulled down a power pole at Northwest 14th Avenue and Marshall Street.

No one was injured in the accident.

Power was shut off in the neighborhood for several hours. PGE officials said the power should be restored by Tuesday evening.

Portland police said the accident happened at about 11:35 a.m. when a chemical truck tried to pull out of the way of a tanker truck and accidentally hit a guide line connected to a utility pole, pulling down one pole and damaging power lines and transformers.

Portland Fire and Rescue crews found power lines draped over a tanker truck, a chemical truck and two smaller vehicles. A transformer crushed another vehicle that was not occupied.
