Curb work begins for SE Powell Blvd. safety project
Work begins Monday night on curb ramps for sidewalks along Southeast Powell Boulevard, from 122nd to 174th avenues.
Oregons Department of Transportation will add curb ramps to the area beginning July 8 as part of the Outer Powell Safety Improvement Project. Neighboring businesses and residences should expect to hear jackhammers, grinding and cutting as part of the work.
Concerns about noise should be directed to the noise hotline, 503-412-2382.
The project will install safety upgrades and new pavement and should be completed by mid-October. The work includes traffic signal upgrades to reduce crashes; new curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities standards; new pedestrian signals, three new crosswalks with rapid flash beacons at Southeast 119th, 141st and 156th avenues; and an eight-foot shoulder through the corridor.
