Man hospitalized in overnight shooting
Police are investigate an overnight shooting in the Parkrose neighborhood.
The victim, William Rasmussen, 45, of Southeast Portland, was hospitalized with two non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
According to police, at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday May 21, North Precinct officers responded to the parking lot of a residence in the 10500 block of Northeast Fremont Street on the report of shots fired in the area.
Officers arrived but did not locate any victims. Witnesses at the scene described hearing shots and seeing several vehicles leave the area.
Shortly after the officers arrived, East Precinct officers responded to the report of a gunshot victim arriving at Portland Adventist Medical Center. He was identified as Rasmussen and to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for treatment.
Rasmussen told police he was in the parking lot of the apartment complex when he was approached by the suspect who fired shots at him for no reason. He could not provide any suspect information.
