Man dies in Barbur Blvd. crash


A man died Tuesday night when his car struck a utility pole and rolled down an embankment on Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Miles Street.

Portland police said the body of 45-year-old Lance Marcus was found in the car after the 10:30 p.m. accident. Police said it appeared that Marcus was driving an Audi A-6 at a high rate of speed north on Barbur Boulevard before striking the utility pole. Toxicology tests are pending by the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office.

It was the 15th traffic fatality of the year.

The Traffic Division’s Major Crash Team is investigating the accident. Traffic on Barbur Boulevard was affected for several hours.
