Man arrested in non-injury shooting
Police arrested a man for shooting a handgun in East Portland on Monday afternoon.
No one was injured in the incident, which too place in the area of 122nd Avenue and East Burnside Street.
Derrick Terrell Tolliver, 34, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a loaded firearm, discharging a firearm in the city, and carrying a concealed weapon.
According to police, at approximately 5:15 p.m. on May 6, multiple East Precinct officers responded to the area on the report of shots fired. A 9-1-1 caller provided a description of the shooter.
Officers quickly located the suspect walking southbound on 122nd Avenue at Southeast Ash Street. The suspect followed police commands to get on the ground, where officers took him into custody without incident.
Police located a handgun in the suspect's bag. They say he was involved in a dispute with several other people at the intersection before he fired several shots into the air.
