Suspicious N. Portland vehicle turns out to be just another minivan

Portland’s bomb squad said a suspicious vehicle parked less than 100 feet from a commercial propane tank in North Portland was just a minivan. The vehicle did not contain any explosives or other dangerous devices, police said Tuesday afternoon.

Portland Police Bureau officials said the Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit was called at about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, to check the vehicle that was discovered parked in the 9900 block of North Burgard Way. It is about 70 feet from a commercial propane tank connected to a neighboring business.

Warehouses on either side of the vehicle have been cleared of people and traffic is blocked on North Burgard Way.

A check of the vehicle determined that it was not dangerous. Traffic was reopened and people were allowed back to the warehouses.
