Greater Portland Economic Summit to feature Gary Locke as keynote speaker
Greater Portland Inc (GPI) announced Thursday that former U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke will be the keynote speaker for the upcoming conference.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, Ambassador Locke grew up in Seattle and served as the Governor of Washington state from 1997 to 2005. Locke also served as the United States Secretary of Commerce from 2009 to 2011, where he led President Obamas National Export Initiative.
The annual economic summit is collaboration of hundreds of public and private sector leaders who recognize that by working together they make Portland a competitive and vibrant economy. At the summit, leaders will address where the region has been in the past year, the benefits of regional collaboration in a global economy and new opportunities for sustainable growth. Summit topics will include explorations of industry collaborations, stories of regional success and new efforts to expand the regions exports.
Greater Portland Inc.'s 7th Annual Economic Summit is set to take place on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Portland Art Museums Kridel Grand Ballroom, from 7:30 a.m.–noon. Attendees will be able to register on the Greater Portland Inc website in late July.
